In the week following enactment of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, now commonly referred to as the “FFCRA,” the U.S. Department of Labor has begun to provide some initial guidance on administration of the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act (“Expanded FMLA”) and the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act benefits of the FFCRA. While further regulations are anticipated to address these legal requirements, this interim update provides a summary of updated information employers should note.
